What I have loved about the guest lecturers is that they all come from different specialities, there is something for everyone but I have enjoyed learning about all the different careers and journeys everyone has went down to get where they are today.

Today we had guest lecturers Steve McCoy and Stephanie Wynne who are both architectural and landscape photographers. They have also dabbled in teaching and both have their own businesses.

McCoy and Wynne were asked to photograph the new builds of Anfield and Goodison Park (Up the toffees) and also the new development of Liverpool One. This is so fascinating to me because it is so close to home.

Although their most popular pieces are of completed builds, they have also been asked to capture the development of other structures. This is usually through having and creating a good client relationship as it typically leads to more job opportunities.

Similarly to Aimee Grundell, they emphasised the importance of making connections. Grundell gathered new connections in various careers which has been very helpful throughout her own career, being able to take on new and exciting projects. Over the years they have created a client list/contact list that they are able to ask for more work when things may be a little slow. This has lead to even more clients and a bigger workload. Because of this their portfolio is very impressive which can only lead to bigger and better things.

Countryside Agency contacted them to do some landscape photography of Pennie Trail. They had various contracts with them which was very helpful to develop their portfolios. Sadly, the company merged with others and changed their name which meant that McCoy and Wynne took a ht on their client base and work load all at the same time.

Stephanie Wynne emphasised that although our work is important, contacts/connections are vital too. Not only this but within our portfolios there should be a variety, commissioned work along with personal projects... this allows for multiple opportunities.

What I enjoyed about their lecture was the endless possibilities that are available to us if we do things correctly and wisely. In 2015, I started working at Edenred as a marketing and design intern every summer. They also said connections are important and helped me set up my LinkedIn profile. Over the last 6 years I have gathered a fair few connections that support my posts and I do the same for theirs. This is something I am going to continue to do and I hope it does bring me exciting prospects.

Much love,
